Lexie's first trip to our new library

Our local town is currently under going lots of development and has been for the last couple of years, we have a new Tesco, Sainsbury, a cinema, multi-storey car park and also a brand new civic centre which houses the council services and our new library which has recently opened plus LOADS of new houses!

This morning I went and had a nosey around and registered Lexie at the library so we can borrow some books each visit as she is really showing interest in them recently especially the touchy feely ones and I was so impressed! It's absolutely amazing compared to our old dull and boring library we used to have, so much bigger and brighter and definitely more up to date.

It is more modern with lots of different areas, we obviously spent most of our time in the Childrens area and it was great, the other kids are going to love it when I take them!

Lexie loved looking at all the books and going through the mirrored tunnels. I loved the different seating types too, very unique and fun, like little cubby holes. I great place to sit and get stuck into a good old book forgetting about the world around you for a while!

Lexie was given a Bookstart Bear Club membership pack which is a great idea that encourages children to visit the library. Each time they go they get a stamp on a passport type book and get a certificate after every 6 stamps. Also included in the pack is a door hanger and book mark.

The website which has more information on the pack of you want a look is www.bookstart.org.uk it also has a few fun interactive games and activities and some recommendations of great stories and rhymes, well worth a look.

I definitely think Lexie enjoyed her first trip to the library!

  2. Oh what a fab new library. I have very fond memories of the library when I was growing up, but it got knocked down and the new one is tiny!

  3. Libraries are excellent for young children - plenty of books to keep them entertained and they often have storytelling and crafts at times too!
