Countdown to Christmas!

Now Halloween and Bonfire night are over the shops are putting all their Christmas stuff out! I love it! Sky now have their Christmas channel on too, it's really beginning to feel so xmassy!

Last year I was dreading Christmas as it was the first one after we lost Mum but this year I determined to make some happy memories with the kids and go all out, not present wise but in every other way possible! May even get some ceiling decorations up this year like Mum used to!

I adore the John Lewis advert this year and will admit I shed a tear at the man on the moon, just amazing!  I haven't seen the Coca Cola advert yet but the countdown will definitely be on after that!

I love the run up to Christmas and always put the decorations up the nearest weekend to the 1st December (they come down on Boxing Day as I do a major declutter that day!). I've noticed a few mentions of the decs going up imminently on Facebook maybe a little too early I think!

I've started thinking about our Elf adventures and so preparation for that is ongoing, I love it and Ellie is helping me this year too! I have loads of ideas! We have 2 new elves coming this year in addition to Jingles and Jangles who already visit. Any suggestions on names would be great. I'm liking Sparkle and Sprinkle maybe but would love to hear other suggestions! As you'll see in the pictures Jingles and Jangles were pretty mischievous elves last year!! I love how these traditions have started over here and have really taken off! It just adds to the magical time of year!

I've also started on this years Christmas Eve box but still have lots to get. I have Riley's PJ's so far but that's it so will crack on with that now. I normally put pyjamas, hot chocolate, a Christmas book, DVD, activity book, reindeer poops, reindeer food and magic dust and also Santa's key. What do you put in yours?

Sky having their Christmas channel now is dangerous!! I would watch Christmas movies all day long if I could but my all time favourite one is, Santa Claus the movie starring Dudley Moore. We watch it every Christmas, it's definitely a tradition in our house! The kids love The Snowman and also Miracle on 34th Street is a firm favourite too.

I've ordered some gorgeous Stocking holders to go on our brand new fireplace and also got some personalised stockings to hang on them.

I've ordered this years Christmas cards already, I used a picture I did with the kids and I hope they turn out OK because I made them into a photo for the card so we'll soon see. Here's the picture I used...

The cards we had last year were amazing! I loved loved loved them, they really were fantastic but I like to do something different each year. Here's last years.....

I went to a local craft fair at the weekend and got some gorgeous Christmas candles, they are so beautiful I don't think I can bring myself to actually use them!

This weekend me and 3 friends are going to The Festive Gift fair at The NEC in Birmingham, I can't wait for a girlie shopping day without the kids! As much as I love them, it's great to have a days break!

Will do a post on the gift fair next week and show you all my festive a buys!
Have you started thinking about Christmas yet or is it still too early?

  10. I do not know what to expect this year, Gemma. Last year Christmas was horrid, we had only lost Georgie and we wanted it to just be over but this year, just like you, I would like to make it count, for Emma's sake.xx
